The Young Authors Conference
Here’s a wonderful opportunity for talented writers. Since 1993 the CWTAG Group has sponsored a Young Authors Contest. Each school district has been given a specific number of students who may participate in the conference. Registrations take place in the categories of poetry, personal narrative, and creative writing using one of the four pictures as a story prompt. A registration fee covers the cost of lunch, materials, and an anthology for each student.
Each district uses its own method to select the students that they send to the conference. The number of students able to come from each district is based on two students per category per grade level. .
The climax of the Young Authors Conference each year is a day-long conference at the University of Wisconsin, Sauk County/ Baraboo Campus. The conference brings together all of the children who were chosen by their districts. Speakers and seminars designed especially for third/fourth and fifth/sixth grade authors provide opportunities for these children to expand their understanding and skills. At the conference, students will receive an anthology containing all of the manuscripts which were entered.
