Destination Imagination is an educational experience open to students K-12 which is hands-on, collaborative and fun. Students are empowered to take charge of their creative learning. There are seven project-based challenges teams can participate in: Technical, Scientific, Engineering, Fine Arts, Improvisational, Service Learning, and Early Learning.
Each team (up to seven members) has at least one Team Manager (often a parent) who helps keep the team on track, but does not assist or interfere with the team’s solution. Teams can meet just for the experience and fun, or compete at a regional tournament. If you are interested in working with a group of amazing students, please contact Holly Kobza at Muir Elementary.
Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem-solving program that engages students in their learning by allowing their knowledge and ideas to come to life. Problems are posed to students that reach creativity and have included challenges that allow students to design mechanical dinosaurs, invent new factory machinery, build working vehicles, write a new chapter to Moby Dick, put a twist on classic artworks, turn Pandora’s Box into a video game, and more. The program combines STEM learning with history and art and encourages learning these subjects through the Classics and performance problems.
Each team is allowed up to seven members who attend that school or are part of that community group. There is no minimum team size. Under the guidance of an adult coach, teams work on their solutions throughout the school year and, if they choose, present them in organized competitions in the spring. If you are interested in working with a group of amazing students, please contact Holly Kobza at Muir Elementary.
