Goals |
The Portage Community School District recognizes the unique needs of Advanced Learners. Our program provides opportunities for students who have been identified as having high academic performance capabilities. Students benefit from lessons, resources, and events which encourage their growth as learners.
A student's academic needs are constantly changing. Portage recognizes this and strives to provide every student what they need when they need it. This may mean an advanced class one year and grade-level curriculum the next. Some students may work on a special project one month, but be part of whole class instruction the next. Periodically students may be challenged by instruction from another adult or be part of a collaborative group investigating a topic. |
Teachers meet at least monthly with the K-5 Learning Coach to discuss the progress of Advanced Learners. Please contact your child's teacher for more details on the instruction they are receiving. |
