Student Council |
Event Date - Sept - May
|
The BMS Student Council works to improve the school, and helps develop leadership skills. Participants volunteer in the community, organize several school dances, and recognize important people in the building. They also take on special projects such as adding an announcement TV and microwave to their cafeteria or ringing bells for the Salvation Army. BMS Student Council is open to anyone from 6th-8th grade. If a student wants to be one of the four officers, they complete an application.
At the high school level, anyone can join Student Council at the beginning of the year. They remain on the council as long as they attend meetings and follow the eligibility requirements. Officers are elected by the members and advisor discretion in the spring. The council maintains a budget, provides a school board representative and works with administration on student issues. Some of their previous activities include the homecoming dance, blood drives, teacher appreciation breakfast, Marsh Madness and sponsoring hypnotist, Dr. Wand.
